About US - StoykoTs

Welcome to StoykoTs.  A brother and sister team born in the late 60's, Grew up in the 70's and "lived" through the 80s.

For all the KIDS WHO SURVIVED the 60's and 70's:

Survived being born by mothers that took aspirin, smoked cigarettes, ate tuna from a can.

We rode our bikes with no helmets.

As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags.

Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle.

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this.

We ate cake, white bread and margarine and drank soda pop with sugar in it, but we weren't overweight because WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day. And we were O.K.

We did not have Playstations, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 250 channels on cable, no dvr, no cd movies, no surround sound, no cell phones, no Facebook, no computers, no Internet.....WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth.

We were given BB guns, made up games with sticks and balls.

We roasted hot dogs over an open fire in the backyard using old wire coat hangers.

Swam in the same pond as the cows.

Went all summer with no shoes on at all.

Our back to school shopping consisted of going to town to the local dime store and buying a Big Chief Tablet and if you were lucky you got a new pair of sneakers.  By the way, everyone at school wore the same sneakers as you.

For our birthday we got a card from our Grandparents that had quarters taped to it.  With one quarter you could buy 25 pieces of bubblegum or candy.  If you got a Silverdollar that year you were pretty special.

We rode bikes everywhere or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked right in and talked to them!

Little League had no tryouts and everyone made the team.

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.
